Are you covered when you travel with a Medicare Advantage Plan?
The weekend I traveled to the Oceanside Harbor, which is my happy place!
I get a lot of seniors that I meet with and are planning what type of supplement to go with and they let me know they plan on Traveling and ask will they be covered with Medicare?
I let them know that yes you are covered, however it depends on what type of Supplement you sign up for? Medicare Supplement or a Medicare Advantage Plan?
Medicare Supplement – This will give you the most flexibility, it picks up the 20% that
Medicare does not cover and will allow you to go to any Dr that accepts Medicare Reimbursement!
Medicare Advantage Plans – They are generally HMO’s however in some counties there are also PPO Options. With Medicare Advantage Plans you need to stay with in your network, however if you go out side of your network and lets say are traveling, you will be coverage for Emergency Room and Urgent Care…..Some of the Medicare Advantage Plans offer World Wide Coverage for Emergency Room and Urgent Care!
